The Printify sustainability commitment

At Printify, sustainability means measurable action – across materials, inks, packaging, emissions, supplier standards, and governance.

Our work in sustainable Print on Demand focuses on reducing overproduction risk, improving claim accuracy, and helping merchants make responsible brand decisions from day one.

Want to be more eco-friendly? Print on Demand can help

Printify is a platform that lets anyone turn an idea into a business. Serving entrepreneurs at scale means taking environmental and social responsibility seriously – and we treat that work as part of how we grow.

The print-on-demand model helps merchants produce only after a customer places an order, reducing inventory risk and avoiding unnecessary waste. Across our network, we work with partners, suppliers, and sellers to improve resource use, support ethical practices, and make commerce more efficient.

That also means helping merchants build trust with clearer product information. Buyers, regulators, and customers expect proof, not broad promises. Proving sustainability claims requires accurate data, visible details, and reports that explain scope, progress, and limits.

We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, and we know the work continues. That’s why our annual reports cover three ESG categories.

Sustainability 2

Environmental

  • We assess our environmental impact by calculating material greenhouse gas emissions and identifying where our operations and network can do better.
  • Our made-to-order model reduces the need for bulk inventory, while product choices, ink options, sustainable packaging, and recycling information help merchants make clearer decisions for their brand and the planet.
  • We match orders to Print Providers in the same country whenever possible to reduce shipping distances for buyers.
Sustainability 3

Social

Great businesses need fair, responsible working standards.

  • We focus on employee well-being.
  • We use our Code of Conduct policies, supplier requirements, and audits to set expectations for the people working across our partner facilities.
  • Printify and FYUL support inclusion through annual Pride events and Pride flag raisings at our main office.
  • FYUL also supports local communities through employee-led donation boxes, charity events, donation campaigns, and sponsorships. In 2025, FYUL donated more than $100,000 to social impact initiatives.

This improves oversight, strengthens accountability, and gives merchants greater confidence in the network powering their products.

Sustainability 4

Governance

Transparency, accountability, and strategic decision-making guide how we work at Printify

Our Supplier Code of Conduct, compliance processes, and reporting structure help us stay accountable as our platform grows.

Clear governance also protects merchants. When a brand communicates honestly, supports claims with evidence, and avoids vague promises, it can strengthen brand loyalty, reduce reputational risk, and earn long-term customer trust.

Sustainability 5

One day, everything will be made on demand

Made-to-order production gives commerce a cleaner operating logic: create the listing, sell the product, then produce it when a consumer buys. That means less dead stock and more control for every business.

Printify is committed to this shift because overproduction wastes materials, space, labor, and money. With Print on Demand, merchants can test designs, launch custom t-shirts with high-quality prints, and scale only when real buyers respond.

Every year, up to 21% of all newly created garments go unsold.

Every second, the equivalent of a truckload of clothes is burned or sent to a landfill. That hurts the planet, weakens fashion’s reputation, and shows the old inventory model needs a better solution.

The answer is a simple change: make products after purchase, not before.

FAQ

Yes. Printify lets merchants explore eco-friendly t-shirt printing and other sustainable products with lower-impact materials, including organic cotton, recycled fabrics, and select biodegradable items.

Some printing methods also use water-based inks. Check each product page before adding claims to your store or brand copy.

Every garment has an impact on the planet – production, packaging, and shipping all require resources. Print on Demand can reduce unsold stock because products are only printed after purchase. With Printify, some Print Providers also support lower-impact materials, water-based inks, and local fulfillment.

Print on Demand helps small companies test products without bulk inventory or high upfront costs. Merchants can respond to buyer trends, launch products faster, and use regional Print Providers where available – so orders get delivered closer to customers and overproduction is avoided.

Merchants can sell custom t-shirts and other eco-friendly products made with organic cotton, recycled cotton, recycled polyester, or other lower-impact materials, depending on the Print Provider. For custom t-shirts, check exact fabric percentages, certifications, ink details, and care instructions before making sustainability claims.
